Individual Blackwing Pencils are now available at Muni Strings! These pencils are truly lovely to use. The graphite is incredibly smooth and each pencil offers a different feel. Whether marking music or changing strings, these pencils are simply a joy.
The Matte model is very soft and what we use for adding graphite to the notches on bridges and nuts. The graphite in the 602 model is still soft but is firmer than the Matte and great for writing in music. It promises “Half the pressure, twice the speed” which means you can mark music on the stand with little effort. We also offer “special editions” as they become available from Blackwing.
Each pencil has a unique “paint-brush” ferrule that holds the eraser. The ferrule is flat which keeps the pencils from rolling off the sand or desk. It also allows for the eraser to be easily removed and extended to reveal many times more eraser than is visible above the ferrule. If you do run out the erasers can be easily replaced.
